Workshops and Classes
Currently I facilitate two different workshops at Root: Center for Yoga & Sacred Studies in Colorado Springs, Colorado. If you’d like to know when a workshop goes on Root’s schedule, join my newsletter. If you’re interested in offering one of these workshops at your studio or another facility, please email me and let’s chat!
Write & Restore
A workshop blending words from the heart and rest for the body and soul.
During this two-hour session, we'll alternate practicing restorative poses to relax and help open the mind, and improvisational flow writing through guided prompts. As our poses go deeper, so will our words.
Pogatry™ \pō-gə-trē\ Exploring ways language roots in the body
Pogatry™ is a seasonal series exploring the ways that language is rooted in the body.
Each three-hour session, designed to honor and reflect the season of the day, consists of breath awareness/meditation, restorative poses and balances, writing exercises and discussion.
I co-developed and co-teach Pogatry™ with Ann Davenport, a poet, essayist, translator, critic, and devotee of fresh bread. Ann has hand-published three chapbooks: ends & beginnings (2000), riparian (2003), and love (2007). Her poetry has been published in Bird’s Thumb, The Stillwater Review, Adanna Literary Journal, and Digging through the Fat, and her critical writing has been published in Pleiades: Literature in Context and Adanna Literary Journal.
As co-founder of Pogatry™, Ann delights in helping writers and yogis get out of their heads and onto the mat with a blank page. Ann also serves as the Executive Editor of QuillsEdge Press, as a reader for Get Fresh Books, as a Board member and grant-writer for Poetry Heals, and offers freelance editing and writing services, consulting, and poetry and translation workshops through her company 31 Annotations.
